Once again “K” was the meeting point for trade visitors from throughout the world. The quality of visitors and their propensity to take decisions were striking. Many projects were discussed with exhibitors very seriously and in detail.

Exhibitors were satisfied all round with a trade fair excellently organised right down to the smallest detail. “With this K 2010 acts as a benchmark for global comparison once again,” was the verdict of Thorsten Kühmann, Managing Director of this VDMA Association.

The German plastics and rubber machinery manufacturers who are already enjoying an up-swing expect the trade fair to provide a further massive boost. Based on the incoming orders picking up since the beginning of the year – up 85% between January and September 2010 compared to the previous year – this sector of the industry is returning much faster than ex-pected to pre-crisis levels.

At this year’s “K” visitors took a particular interest in all topics related to sustainable production such as energy savings, material efficiency, lightweight engineering and process optimisation. These issues were addressed by a wide variety of exhibits displayed by exhibitors at their stands.

Against this backdrop the VDMA Association views its recently voiced opinion on developments in the sector as confirmed here. It expects sales in the sector to increase by some 15% in 2010 and to rise again by approx. 10% in 2011.
