SAP linked to shuttle system
- Quick access to production resources at Kaeser
viastore linked the SAP ERP system in further manufacturing warehouses of compressor manufacturer Kaeser Kompressoren in Coburg/Germany directly to two Kardex shuttles XPlus each. SAP takes over the inventory and storage location management. The shuttles receive their travel commands directly from the SAP system. The SAP workstation dialogs for storage, picking, control and inventory taking processes are accessed via touchscreens; the graphical tray occupation (19 x 8 modules) in the workstation dialog is supported by laser display at the retrieval opening of the shuttles.
Some time earlier, the automatic mini-load system of Kaeser Kompressoren had already been equipped with 16 of such shuttles. Here too SAP TRM is linked directly to the corresponding control system – here: the interface control system of the shuttles – without the presence of an additional material flow or warehouse management system.
The advantage of the Kardex shuttle XPlus is in the combination of several shuttle elements in one system which is fed by one single extractor platform. Quick access times continue to be guaranteed while the extractor can make the warehouse parts available from all shuttle elements at every retrieval opening.
