PSI was commissioned by the leading Russian electrical steel producer VIZ-Stal to supply PSImetals 5 for the VIZ-Stal plant in Yekaterinburg. VIZ-Stal will use the components PSImetals Planning, PSImetals Production and PSImetals Quality within the whole steel plant.

With the use of PSImetals 5 VIZ-Stal aims to increase transparency of the production process based on continuous feedback and the collection of production data. This allows an early response to events in production, thereby improving the quality and avoiding rejects. The result should reduce the material consumption of finished products per ton. VIZ-Stal also wants to increase the efficiency of the production process and the utilisation of production capacities as well as the reduction of work in progress by improved planning functionality such as order sequencing and cutting optimisation.

VIZ-Stal is a leading producer of cold-rolled electrical steels and the largest producer of grain-oriented electrical steel in Russia. Its share of global grain-oriented electrical steel production is almost 11% Over 80% of its products are exported. The company is part of the Novolipetsk Steel group (NLMK). NLMK is the major supplier of hot-rolled coils for further cold rolling at VIZ-Stal. The main customers of electrical steels are leading Russian companies in the electrical and electronic industry, manufacturers of household electrical and radio appliances, as well as electrical companies from around the world.

With this contract, PSI wins another major new customer in the Russian steel market. In 2009, Russia was the fifth largest steel producer in the world. The Russian steel output is expected to grow by at least 10 % in 2010.
