KNAPP OSR Shuttle solution at WASI Wuppertal

Customer satisfaction and first class service have the highest priority at WASI. Stainless steel products are very durable and in many areas of life it is hard to imagine doing without them. To meet the increased demands of the market, KNAPP is supporting WASI with modular logistic solutions for managing all the warehouse processes in the new logistics location in Wuppertal Ronsdorf.

The heart of the system is the OSR Shuttle, designed for the first time for three-deep storage and erected during on-going operation. The system serves as an automatic small parts storage system and supplies four work stations with dynamic, multifunctional and ergonomic construction. 540 positions/containers per hour can be processed at the stations.

Through the integrated logistics software of the KiSoft family of products, WASI integrates the most modern conveyor and warehouse technology with various components such as high-bay racking, and picking stations for containers and pallets. WASI can supply the various demands of their wide array of customers with everything from a small package or pre-picked deliveries, up to large quantities on pallets or in containers. Very special highlights are the high-performance warehouse management system KiSoft WMS and the efficient material flow computer KiSoft WCS. The end-to-end combination of these two systems produces an optimal flow of goods.

Picking of the individual stainless steel products is carried out with voice direction by KiSoft Voice in all areas of the distribution centre. The ideal application area for voice-directed picking methods fulfils precisely those demands that WASI requires of such a system: simplicity, flexibility and the possibility to use both hands to ergonomically pick a variety of products including heavy products.

The large capacity of the automated high-bay racking and small-parts warehouse in combination with a standardized control and management software KiSoft offer the advantage of storing the wide range of products in suitable quantities in the smallest amount of space, supplying them in a timely fashion for the various customer orders.

Having a unified user interface for all the software modules not only enables warehouse staff to control the entire system from the control station, targeted and as needed using KiSoft Command, but also shortens the time needed for training.
