Demag Cranes extends its KBK light crane system
- Greater freedom in planning and shorter assembly and installation times
- KBK II-H steel profile section for larger distances between suspensions and increased payloads
- Innovative rail connection able to bear full load
With its newly developed KBK II-H steel profile section, Demag Cranes has expanded its modular KBK light crane system by the addition of a further key component. This newly developed inside-running rail section makes it possible to build monorails and suspension cranes with load capacities of up to 2,000 kilograms. This solution enables existing building space to be utilised even better and allows costs to be reduced already in the planning phase.
Extended scope with cost benefit
The KBK II-H steel profile section offers benefits for larger span dimensions or distances between suspensions. Using the KBK II size profile section, it is now possible to achieve distances between suspensions of more than six metres for loads on the profile section of up to 1,200 kilograms. The need for additional supporting steelwork can be reduced or completely eliminated. The new profile section is an ideal alternative to previously expensive installation combinations. With its excellent deadweight to load capacity ratio, the KBK II-H profile section is a leader in the light crane system market.
Rail joint with high load capacity
A further strength of the new KBK II-H profile section is its completely rigid rail joint. The rail joint can be subjected to a full load, regardless of the position of the track suspension. There is no need to use straight profile sections in special lengths due to pre-defined distances between suspensions. This results in price advantages and provides for greater planning freedom. In addition, installation owners benefit from shorter delivery and assembly times. The rail joint connection uses self-retaining nuts that are secured against turning.
Crane suspension can be used along entire section
The pre-assembled crane suspension and track suspension clamps can be fitted direct at any position along the profile section. This makes it possible to accommodate existing support superstructures more flexibly already at the planning stage. Safety is improved by transmission to the suspension of any vertical forces that occur in normal operation. This is accomplished without a bolted connection; the bolts are only needed to fix the arrangement in the horizontal plane.
Compatible and flexible configuration
The new inside-running profile section is fully compatible with other KBK II sections and features an installation dimension which is only higher by 13 millimetres for exactly the same width. It allows suspension fittings, rail brackets and trolleys to be connected. All trolleys and travelling hoists from the KBK II range can also be used with the new KBK II-H. By means of a profile adapter, which will be available from mid-2011, the profile section can also be combined with curved sections, track switches, turntables and drop sections in profile size KBK II.
KBK light crane system: successful track record for many years
Demag Cranes has systematically extended its KBK crane construction kit to include KBK II-H. Besides good value for money, the profile section offers greater freedom in the planning and assembly of crane and track installations. Demag Cranes offers the new KBK profile section in two designs. In addition to the KBK II-H profile section, an identical design with internal 5-pole conductor rails is available as KBK II-H-R. This new profile section solution can be easily integrated into existing installations made of profile size and will replace the KBK II-T profile in future.
The KBK light crane system has had a successful track record all over the world for many years. This now includes nine steel profile sections in six sizes and two aluminium profile sections: from KBK 100 with a load capacity of 125 kilograms to KBK III outside-running sections up to 3,200 kilograms. The easily installed Demag KBK crane construction kit was developed to provide solutions tailored to meet individual needs. Loads can be handled and transported above the normal working level quickly, reliably and efficiently with installations from the KBK system. The modular construction kit offers a high level of flexibility and its components can be easily integrated into existing working environments and retrofitted at any time.
