The machines are in operation at the production location of Meinerzhagen in the Sauerland. The units, which each have a working load of 600 kg, will be equipped with an IPC controller and be fitted with new cabs, busbars and other accessories. They will then be subjected to a safety inspection. This warehouse will also be prepared for later automatic operation.

Conmetall, a system supplier for the building and DIY markets, has also placed an order on viastore for the modernization of storage/retrieval machines. Five viapal units, which have been used at the company's Celle location since 1992, are to be brought up to date. In particular, the modernization includes the replacement of the controllers and the hoist drives. The storage/retrieval machines will be modernized successively in order not to adversely affect ongoing operation. Conmetall also intends to equip the units for load-dependent operation – alternative operating parameters are selected in the event of reduced load. This not only saves energy, but also reduces wear.

For both customers, the focus is also on increasing energy efficiency. viastore will therefore be implementing energy equalization for the link circuit coupling using the viastoreblue concept for all modernized storage/retrieval machines. This measure also helps companies to fulfill the requirements of DIN EN 16001. This norm translates into applicable law the energy policy objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the EU due to energy consumption by 20% compared with 1990 values by the year 2020.
