BEUMER provides BAUR Versand with market-oriented warehouse logistics: Fast and gentle sortation

BAUR Versand in Altenkunstadt, an enterprise of the Otto Group, has selected BEUMER sortation and distribution technology to achieve the goal of re-aligning their warehouse logistics.

The high-capacity BEUMER Belt Tray Sorter ensures a fast and gentle sortation.
The high-capacity BEUMER Belt Tray Sorter ensures a fast and gentle sortation.

The project consists of two parts: The first part comprises the implementation of a commissioning sorter for packages including container transport. The second part includes the delivery and installation of a commissioning sorter for bags, comprehensive conveying systems and the modification of the existing carton transport systems. The contract volume is similar for both parts. From a customer perspective, the project is remarkable. Among other benefits, the new energy-saving drive technology and dynamic material flow control will enable BAUR to contribute to the effort across the Otto Group of sustainably reducing energy consumption. Moreover, both the installation of the new system and the modification of the existing sorter are to be carried out while production continues. The installation for both orders is scheduled for spring 2010. Operation will start in November 2010.
